Peter Tan – Government Preparatory Course, Lecturer
A trained teacher who had served with the MOE for 40 years. Graduated from the National Institute of Education (NTU). Was the school HOD for specialized media-approached in pedagogical matters.
Has teaching experience in both the primary and secondary classes until his retirement in 2001. Has also taught adult classes at former VITB and community development organizations – both SINDA and CDAC.
Since 2007, he has successfully tutored a good number of foreign students from ASIA and ASEAN countries in preparation for admission to Singapore main schools.
Christine Lim – English (GCE ‘O’ Level), Lecturer
Christine Lim graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English Literature and English Language. She then attained a Post-graduated Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education (NIE) and embarked on her 16-year long education career with the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE).
A veteran teacher, she specialised in the teaching of General Paper (AO Level) in a Junior College in Singapore. She was also an experienced moderator and facilitator of the ‘A’ Level Project Work, a senior member of the college’s National Committee and Library Service for many years.
In 2004, she went on sabbatical leave to pursue her academic interest in South-East Asian History and Politics. In 2005, she attained the Masters of Arts (South-East Asian Studies) with distinction from NUS, and was conferred the Benjamin Bateson Gold medal by NUS.
Since leaving the Civil Service, she has specialized in the teaching of ‘O’ Level English to foreign students in private educational institutes. She has also taught foreign students from the Primary, Secondary One and Secondary Two Government Preparatory classes, preparing them for entrance in government schools all over Singapore.
A lively and engaging teacher, she enjoys interacting with students from many diverse cultures, learning about their customs and picking up a smattering of different languages. She has built up very strong rapport with her students and still maintains contact with many of her past students via sms, msn, emails and Friendster.
Johnny Chua – Combined Science (GCE ‘O’ Level), Lecturer
He has been in the education line for more than 30 years, teaching Mathematics and Science to many students. He is, therefore, thoroughly familiar with the school syllabus. He is also experienced in coaching students either in singly, in groups or in classroom settings.
He was educated at National Junior College where he obtained his Higher School Certificate. He graduated from the University of Portsmouth (UK) with a Bachelor of Science degree (with Second Class Upper Honours). Other qualifications he has obtained are: Diploma in Computer Studies and Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies awarded by NCC Education (UK)
Johnny Lee
Johnny Lee has been with the Hospitality Industry for more than 20 years. After leaving the Civil Service, he became the Training Manager of the Holiday Inn in Scotts Road and was the first trainer to introduce the concept of Quality Control Circles in Hotel. A total of 21 Quality Control Circles was set up and many won Gold Medals at the National Quality Control Circles Convention. This set the impetus for other Hotels to follow including the other Holiday Inns in the Asia-Pacific region.
He has won the top QCC trainer-facilitator's Award given by the National Productivity Board. He was later appointed as the Assistant Personnel Director at the Shangri-La Hotel, and was in charge of the training of all the employees of the hotel including the other properties in the group. He later joined the Century Park Sheraton as Director of Human Resource and was involved in the training of 7 hotels from Shanghai and Tianjin including the 'Tien Ma' Hotel built by the Shanghai Government and the Crystal Palace Hotel, managed by the Swiss hotel chain. The training involved all the department heads as well as the section heads. A follow-up training was subsequently conducted in Shanghai.
Over the years he has been involved in the enhancement of Customer Relations in the hotels that he worked. he has a wealth of experience in the latest concepts of delighting customers with many examples and case studies to offer. Presently, he is a Trainer in a Hotel School in Singapore. Not only was he a resource speaker in the delegates conference in the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), he also presented papers in several conferences organized by the National Productivity Board and also at the 1988 National Quality Control Circles Convention. His last appointment was Director of Human Resources at the Concorde Hotel before going to Sydney, Australia to set up a Boutique Hotel and at the same time looking after his own restaurant, "Straits Kitchen" specializing in Singapore food.
Johnny is a graduate from the University of Singapore with a Bachelors of Social Sciences degree and holds a Master degree in Human Resource Management. He is a part time lecturer with the AEC Educational Group as well as Raffles Campus and School for Hospitality and Resort (SHRM) in the Diploma/Adavnced Diploma and Degree courses in Hospitality Management. He also conducts seminars overseas in China, Vietnam and other South East Asian countres.
